What's New for Silverado 1500 in 2024 models?

For 2024, Silverado models with the 6.2-liter 420-horsepower V8 now come with an active exhaust that will give this truck a more forceful soundtrack when it's driven in the Chevy Silverado’s Sport mode. The Midnight Edition is now available on the High Country trim and the Blackout appearance package can be added to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST and LT Tail Boss models.

Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are now standard on all Silverado models and so is the OnStar system. Finally, Chevy has added two new metallic paint colors as available options: Lakeshore Blue and Slate Gray.

Trim Levels

For both model years, the Chevy Silverado 1500 gives buyers from Forsyth and Flowery Branch, GA a total of seven trims to choose from: Work Truck, Custom, LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country.

Engines & Performance

The Chevy Silverado 1500 offers the same selection of engines for both the 2023 and 2024 model years. Your choices range from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to two different V8s and a Duramax® diesel 3.0-liter 6-cylinder version. The 6.2-liter V8 is good for 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, taking you from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The smaller 5.3-liter power plant delivers 355 horsepower and is almost as fast, taking 6.1 seconds to hit 60 mph. With the turbocharged 3-liter six-cylinder diesel you can get 495 pound-feet of torque.

Towing & Payload Capacity

Given the identical engine choices, it’s no surprise that towing and payload capabilities are the same for both model years. The maximum towing capacity is 13,300 pounds, and that’s 550 pounds more than the Ram 1500. That top-level towing capability is available with the 6.2-liter V8 engine but buyers from Jefferson and Winder, GA can also do well with the 5.3-liter V8, towing as much as 11,500 pounds. Even the turbocharged four-cylinder is no slouch, with a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 pounds. Payload ranges up to 2,280 pounds.

Cab Styles

The Chevy Silverado for both model years offers three body styles: Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab. The Regular Cab comes with a three-man bench seat while the Double Cab and Crew Cab both have two rows of seats that can hold either five or six people, depending on the configuration. The Crew Cab provides an enormous amount of space that includes about eight inches more legroom than the Double Cab and the full-size rear doors make it easier to get in and out.
